How to Activate Microsoft Access (2016 → 2024 & Microsoft 365)
Access only ships in the Professional and enterprise Office SKUs, and it shares the same licence store as Word and Excel. Activating the suite restores design view, query building and VBA development.
Before you activate
- Confirm Access is actually installed — it is absent from Home & Student SKUs.
- Use the Office Deployment Tool to add Access to an existing install if needed.
- Access Runtime is free but read-only for design work.
Activation steps
- Close Access and all other Office apps (end MSACCESS.EXE if it lingers).
- Run the activator as administrator.
- Office tab → Ohook for Click-to-Run, or Online KMS for Volume MSI builds.
- Reopen Access → File → Account → 'Product Activated'.
